The Homosassa Lions Club

The Homosassa Lions have been serving the residents of Citrus County since 1970. The Lions Club adopted eyesight preservation as the primary focus of our charitable giving. Although the club supports many charities and assists community organizations in many ways, eyesight receives most of the club's effort and resources. Iphone apps make real money. Eyesight assistance takes many forms from cataract surgery for the elderly to eyeglasses for youngsters whose families cannot afford the prescription glasses themselves. The club provides free vision screening to the Citrus County school system each fall. The Homosassa Lions Foundation

The Homosassa Lions Foundation, Inc. is a tax-exempt, 501(c)3, charitable organization. It operates all of our Lions fund raising events and makes all of our charitable donations. 100% of the proceeds raised by the Foundation are donated to charitable entities, local organizations and fund our vision assistance program.

The Foundation gratefully accepts donations, bequests, and contributions to further its service to the community and to the charitable entities. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.

A short month and one with weather ups and downs. There were some beautiful days for walks outside. And I am sure that the people who plow driveways were very happy for all the snow we had. The temperatures even cooperated towards the end of the month and the tapping of the maple trees and the boiling process to make syrup have begun.

Things for the Lions Club have had some similar ups and downs in member health issues but many are getting vaccinated and hope that we as a Club will be able to get back to our service activities.

A few of the students to whom we gave scholarships in 2020 have sent us videos and described their lives as college students during a pandemic. And the new round of scholarship applications for the class of 2021 will soon begin.

We are still collecting pill bottles and eye glasses (please drop the later off at the blue box in from of the Moultonborough Function Hall, formerly the Moultonborough Lions Club. Once the weather improves, we will provide a plastic box for pill bottles there as well.
